The recipient of the third annual Annapurna Activists Award, presented by Captive Daughters will be announced in September, and personally presented to the awardee in October, 2010.

A one day conference which examined Nepal's cross-border policy and how it affects human trafficking. Conference speakers and interactive working groups made recommendations for policy change within Nepal's government.

Nepal Teen's Bondage Tale Reaches US Award Shortlist -- The plight of a 13-year-old Nepalese girl, sold to an Indian brothel by her stepfather, made it to the shortlist of a prestigious American literary award and is spearheading an effort by the author to raise awareness among young Americans about human trafficking. Girl Trafficking on the Increase --There has been further increase in the number of the Nepalese girls being trafficked across various border entry points of Nepal. Earlier, 8,000 Nepalese girls were trafficked across Indian border annually. However, this figure has increased to 12,000 annually over the past few years. (from The Rising Nepal)
